Franz Ferdinand have confirmed that they will play at the Glastonbury festival this summer.

The Scottish band listed the festival on their gig listings page on their official website,, revealing that they will play on the Saturday (June 27) of the Somerset bash.

They did not say which stage they would perform on, although it is strongly rumoured that the band will be headlining the Other Stage.

Last year Alex Kapranos and co played a secret gig on the Park Stage at the event and also played the the festival's spin-off event on the site, The Pilton Party, in September.

Tickets for the 2009 event, which is rumoured to feature Neil Young, Bruce Springsteen, The Specials and Blur, sold out this week.

Meanwhile, Franz Ferdinand will play on the same bill as The Cure, White Lies and Crystal Castles at the NME Big Gig at the London O2 Arena on February 26.
