Franz Ferdinand joined Edwyn Collins and post-punk legends Josef K's Malcolm Ross to perform Josef K's 1981 song 'Sorry For Laughing' backstage this afternoon (July 10) at T In The Park.

The Scottish art-rockers performed alongside ex-Orange Juice frontman Collins and Ross for a broadcast for BBC3, which airs from 8pm (BST) tonight.

Franz drummer Paul Thomson took up bass duties for the rendition, with usual bassist Bob Hardy watching from the side of the artists' area stage with Thomson's children.

Speaking to NME.COM, Franz Ferdinand guitarist Nick McCarthy explained how the collaboration came about.

"Josef K were a big influence on Franz Ferdinand and we really wanted to do a song today," he said, "so we asked Malcolm and Edwyn if they wanted to do it.

"We saw Edwyn at Glastonbury last year and we said we would do something, so it really came out of that."

Franz Ferdinand will be making their return to the Main Stage at T In The Park later this evening.
