Franz Ferdinand to preview new material on intimate tour

Band will warm up for their summer of festivals with three Irish shows

Franz Ferdinand have announced an intimate set of shows for May.

The band, who are currently working on new material for their fourth studio album, will play three shows in the Republic Of Ireland before they start a busy summer of festival appearances.

The gigs begin on May 18 at Galway's Roisin Dubh, before moving onto Limerick's Dolan's venue on May 19 and finally Cork Pavilion on May 20.

Franz Ferdinand, who haven't played a billed gig for more than two years, will make their live comeback this summer, with dates at Primavera Sound, Berlin Festival, Osheaga festival, Open'er fesival and London's Field Day among the shows booked.

The Scottish band released their last album 'Tonight: Franz Ferdinand' in January 2009 and are expected to preview material from their fourth studio record on the tour. They have so far released no details about how far along they are with the recording of their new album.
