Gallows bring blood and chaos to SXSW

Gallows played a typically raucous show tonight (March 18) at the South By Southwest festival, with frontman Frank Carter spending most of his band's 8pm (CMT) set at Emo's either in the crowd or goading them.

The singer, who repeatedly hit himself on the head with his microphone causing minor bleeding, spent the first part of the set in the midst of the audience, creating a circle space for himself by shoving punters to the side.

Later in the show he demanded that the audience form a circle pit, deriding their efforts as "pathetic" before joining in himself in an attempt to whip up some energy.

The Watford rockers played a slew of material set for their forthcoming new album, 'Grey Britain', with the new songs showing no let-up in terms of heaviness or pace for the frenetic band.

Carter made a shout out to Juliet Lewis, set to play at the venue later with her band The New Romantiques, then ended the set by placing his bandmates' microphones in the crowd so they leaped down to play, with the audience joining in enthusiastically.
