Gallows admit lying about pig slaughter boast

Band issue statement saying that actually they never went to the slaughterhouse

Following the revelation that Gallows recorded the sound of a pig being slaughtered for inclusion on their forthcoming new album 'Grey Britain', the band have released a statement saying that they were in fact lying about the boast.

In a video interview with NME.COM the Hertfordshire punks said that they recorded the dying pig themselves, justifying it by saying that "it was going to die anyway."

Animal rights group PETA subsequently released a message saying the move would be likely to turn many fans vegetarian.

However, in a statement sent to NME.COM today (April 28), Gallows admitted that they never went to the slaughterhouse at all - they got the sample from the internet.

"We would never harm an animal for the sake of our music," the statement read. "The sample is taken from the internet and we even traced it to come from Spain where they still use inhumane forms of slaughter.

"We do not want to upset our fans who we consider intelligent enough to realise we didn't kill a pig or any other kind of animal to achieve the sounds on 'Grey Britain'."

I would have respected them more if they didn't allow PETA to push them around. It amazes me the power that PETA has to make a band tell the truth....

What happened to Gallows? Seems they like to flirt with controversy...First the smart/BNP dresses/flag on Kerrang, then the "pig statement"...Are they so desperate for publicity? How sad...

stu the bassist from gallows said"my comments were taken out of context and were said tongue in cheek as i always take the piss in NME interviews because in my opinion it is a crap publication. They often write whatever they want based on anything but fact, so i thought id wind them up and make up some random shit about recording a pig getting killed ourselves. Our mate Mitch sourced the sample, it was recorded in a Spanish slaughter house a long time ago.Having pointed this out to Peta they are now backtracking and wants us to do some sort of campaign for them.Funny that."its not publicity , its just they have disliked nme for a while , plus this whole "bnp thing" donst exist , im sure if frank carter was interested in becoming a part of the bnp , he would of jumped at the chance to shave his ginger off, the only baldy in the group is involentary bald anyway. this is just another example of nme taking stuff out of context cause it was hardly a boast , and you can tell he was taking the piss anyway.By the way the new album is fucking immence
