Former Alexisonfire guitarist Wade MacNeil has been confirmed as the new singer of Gallows.

The Watford punks have chosen MacNeil after former frontman Frank Carter announced he was quitting the band last month. He has since formed a new outfit Pure Love and is working on new material.

MacNeil was a founding member of Alexisonfire, who announced their split on Friday evening (August 5), and also fronted punk side project The Black Lungs, with whom Gallows toured in 2009.

MacNeil told Alternative Press of the decision:
After the boys decided they were going to keep going, my name kind of popped up, and they all thought it made sense. It didn’t overcomplicate itself. I talked to Steph [Carter, guitarist], and I said I was definitely interested. He pretty much said, 'Okay, let’s do it,' and I got on a plane and we’re writing right now.

The band are currently recording new material for their third studio album and have their first live commitments booked for the autumn, when they support Four Year Strong across North America.
