Newly recruited Gallows vocalist Wade MacNeil has said that he believes that the myths that surround the antics of the band's former frontman Frank Carter are "bigger than the reality".

MacNeil, who was formerly lead guitarist in Canadian hardcore band Alexisonfire, replaced Carter as the band's singer earlier this summer. Carter has since started a new outfit called Pure Love, who are currently recording their debut album.

Speaking to Kerrang! about his first UK shows as Gallows frontman, which are due to take place next week, MacNeil said he believed a mystique had built up around Carter, but that he wasn't fazed at the prospect of stepping into his shoes.

He said: "I think in the UK the myth of Frank Carter is bigger than the reality in a lot of situations. You hear stuff like 'At this one show I saw Frank shoot these skinheads with a shotgun!' And you know what? I don't think that really happened. All we can do is play these shows as hard as we fucking can, and I think they're going to be crazy and everyone's going to have a good time".

Gallows headline London's XOYO on December 13 and Kingston Peel on December 14 next week.
