Gallows have announced that guitarist Steph Carter has left the band.

Carter was a founding member of the Watford hardcore band and brother of Frank Carter, who himself left the band in 2011. Confirming the news on their Facebook page, Gallows short statement reads: "Steph has left Gallows and we wish him the best of luck with his future projects. We will be moving on as a four piece like the early days. First stop Australia."

Fans of Carter will be pleased to learn, however, that Carter is not turning his back on music all together and will continue with his new band The Ghost Riders In The Sky. Speaking out on his own Twitter page, Carter linked to his new band's Soundcloud page and wrote: :"Yes, it is true. I have left Gallows. Thank you for the kind words. Onwards and upwards."

Frank Carter left Gallows in 2011 and has since formed new band Pure Love, who released their album 'Anthems' earlier this year. His brother previously criticised his behaviour prior to leaving band, saying that he had tried to turn the group into Queens Of The Stone Age. "Frank wanted a change in direction. He wanted something that took us to the next step of being a big, successful, straight-up rock band. It was infuriating, because we'd written loads of songs, but until we had vocals on them, we couldn't really get a sense of what the songs actually were."

Gallows' line-up now features Wade MacNeill, who replaced Frank Carter, alongside Laurent "Lags" Barnard, Stuart Gili-Ross and Lee Barratt. The band released a self-titled album in 2012.
