SHIRLEY'S STUDIO BLUES

And it's about time, as far as Shirley Manson is concerned...

SHIRLEY'S STUDIO BLUES
GARBAGE have nearly completed their third studio album, and frontwoman SHIRLEY MANSON says she is itching to get finished in the studio.

In her regular online diary, Manson said that the band have been working on three brand new songs recently, 'Breaking Up The Girl', 'Pay You Back' and 'I Just Don't Care'.

"We worked on some Beatles-like harmonies on the end of 'Breaking Up The Girl' this afternoon," Manson said in her diary on the official Garbage website

. "They sound really good, if I say so myself. It's been a fantasy of mine to sing 'oooh la la la ooh la la la' for quite some time now!

"I also worked on lyrics for a new song called 'Pay You Back', which I have an idea for but can't quite seem to nail down just yet. In addition, I finalised the melody and lyrics on 'I Just Don't Care', which is a song we've had lying about since April but one which I've only just gotten around to working on in the last few days. I don't quite know how to explain how the song sounds but I have a really good feeling about it."

However, the Garbage frontwoman is showing signs of studio fatigue with "winter approaching". She said: "I just don't know what's wrong with me these days. I guess I'm just fed up of being in the studio and now that winter is approaching I'm growing ever more impatient with our snail's pace in the studio. I feel sort of claustrophobic and panicky and desperate to get moving, although moving where I know not, just anywhere but here."

Previously, Manson had asked fans to submit suggestions for possible album titles. However, the band have now decided on a title - which was their own. She said: "I was weeding through all your album title suggestions this afternoon and some of them were really fantastic. Indeed some of them even made me laugh out loud. But unfortunately the title was finally decided upon amongst the four of us late last night, and I regret to inform you that it was one of my own suggestions that won out and not one of yours. I feel really rotten because you put forward some really good ideas but they just weren't quite what we were looking for."

There is no release date set yet, but Garbage are expected to release the album early next year.
