Gary Glitter withdraws sex offenders register appeal

Shamed glam rocker Gary Glitter has dropped his appeal to have his name removed from the sex offenders register in the UK.

The singer, real name Paul Gadd, had been battling to have his name ditched from the list after being made to sign it following his stint in jail in Vietnam for sex crimes against children.

His solicitor has withdrawn the appeal, and as a result his client is no longer required to appear in Harrow Crown Court next month for the appeal as he previously had been, reports BBC News.

Glitter will now remain on the register for life.
