CAMPBELL'S CONDENSED GROUP!

And Isobel Campbell tells NME.COM she won't be using the Gentle Waves moniker this time...

CAMPBELL'S CONDENSED GROUP!

[/a]’s ISOBEL CAMPBELL has been finishing off a new, as of yet untitled, solo album, NME.COM can reveal.

But the indie popster has admitted it won't surface as another Gentle Waves album.

"It's coming out under my own name," she says. "I'm a little bit older now and I was sort of thinking, 'Why hide behind something?' I've always had so many different people playing on my records; there's no point in pretending it's a group. It's just a lot simpler really."

Asked how it comes to compares to her last Gentle Waves album, 2000's
'Swansong For You', and she says: "It's kind of a continuation. When you write, there's a similar thread happening but it's not going to be the same either. There are a few things I'm happier with, such as having more time for mixing, and like my last album it will reflect recent experiences. I'm getting more jaded with each album!"

The album was recorded in-between [a]’s touring schedule last year, which, according to Campbell, has improved relations within the band.

"It was quite a good move on Stuart Murdoch's part," she says, "and bringing in bringing session musicians has lightened the mood. We're nice people individually, but sometimes when we're in the room together you don't want to be in that room. Bringing in new people has sponged up some of the neurosis. It's a lot more jolly these days."

[a][/a]’ soundtrack to Todd Solondz's movie 'Storytelling' is out in April. Isobel Campbell's solo album will be released later this year, both on Jeepster.
