Handwritten Beatles' lyrics to be auctioned
George Harrison
Price expected to reach nearly half a million pounds
George Harrison’s handwritten lyrics for The Beatles’ ‘While My Guitar Gently Weeps’ are to be auctioned in Arizona next week (January 15).
The lyrics of the song, taken from 1968’s ‘The Beatles’, (commonly known as ‘The White Album’), are to be auctioned alongside producer George Martin’s orchestral score, specially composed to accompany a demo of the track on 2006’s Beatles remix album ‘LOVE’.
Harrison’s handwritten lyrics are expected to reach a price of £400,000.
Proceeds raised from the sale of Martin’s score, signed by Martin, Paul McCartney, Ringo Starr, Harrison's widow Olivia and John Lennon's widow Yoko Ono, will go to The George Martin Music Foundation.
