Star performs hour set for Russian billionaire
George Michael has pocketed £1.5 million after performing at a New Year's party in Russia.
The singer received the huge pay packet for an hour-long set at an unnamed billionaire's private estate 20 miles outside Moscow.
Michael was flown over on a private jet for the concert, which was performed in a sports hall that was converted into a nightclub for the evening.
He is thought to have returned to his home in London in time for New Year's Day morning.
According to his spokeswoman, the fee made the singer the highest paid entertainer ever in Russia, reports BBC News.
Christina Aguilera reportedly picked up £1 million for performing three songs at the wedding of Russian oligarch Andrei Melnichenko in September 2005.
