Singer pleads guilty to driving offence

George Michael spared jail sentence

George Michael escaped jail term after he arrived at court for sentencing this morning (June 8) at Brent Magistrates Court in north London.

After pleading guilty to the offence, the singer was told he will not receive a custodial sentence for driving while unfit.

Instead, the singer was given 100 hours community service and has been banned from driving for two years.

Michael was arrested on October 1 after he was found slumped at the steering wheel of his car in the early hours of the morning.

According to BBC News, he expressed his shame, telling the court "I was ashamed I had done something really wrong in putting other people at risk."

Meanwhile, George Michael returns back to work this weekend, performing two shows at Wembley Stadium.
