George Michael retracts HIV interview

George Michael has asked the BBC to remove an interview in which he openly discusses his fears of having HIV.

The BBC have since confirmed that the interview will no longer feature in the upcoming TV documentary 'Stephen Fry: HIV And Me'.

The two-part programme examines the spread of HIV, and even results in presenter Stephen Fry taking an HIV test himself.

George Michael's interview reportedly features him revealing he "does not believe in tests".

BBC producer Ross Wilson explained: "He says he finds the wait for results too harrowing and that he hasn't had a test since at least 2004 due to his fears it might be positive."

The pop singer's partner, Anselmo Feleppa, died of an Aids-related illness in 1995.

Addressing the interview removal, Michael's spokesman said: "On reflection, he felt it was too close and too personal a journey."
