George Michael is currently being treated in intensive care for pneumonia, according to reports.

The Daily Mirror claims that the singer, who had to shelve dates from his UK tour this week after being struck down with the illness, is receiving round-the-clock care at Austria's AKH General Hospital in Vienna.

A source said of his current condition:

George is very poorly. He's getting the very best care and we are all praying he gets better as soon as possible.

His publicist, however, moved to dispel any mounting worries about his health and said: "George is getting really great care. He's doing fine and he just needs to rest."

Michael was forced to cancel gigs at Cardiff's Motorpoint Arena on Saturday and Sunday (November 26 and 27) as part of his Symphonica jaunt, and also pulled a concert at London's Royal Albert Hall, which was due to take place earlier this week (November 24).

The show has been rescheduled for May 2012, while a statement on his website confirmed that there are also plans to rearrange the Cardiff dates.

It's the second time in a month he has shelved dates due to illness - another Royal Albert Hall gig in October was pulled after he was diagnosed with a viral infection and high temperature.
