George Michael has been released from hospital following his recent pneumonia diagnosis.

The singer was released this morning (December 22) from the AKH Hospital in Vienna and will be flying to his home in London today, according to PA.

George Michael's boyfriend recently revealed that the singer would be home for Christmas. Fadi Fawaz Tweeted: "Christmas at home. I cannot stop smiling today, the best day ever. Nothing to worry about, happy days."

It was initially thought that although Michael's condition was improving, he was unlikely to be out of hospital in time for Christmas.

Michael was admitted to Vienna's AKH hospital last month after ill health forced him to cancel a gig in the Austrian capital. The illness forced Michael to shelve all of his tour dates for 2011 and reschedule them for next year.

He had to cancel gigs at Cardiff's Motorpoint Arena as part of his Symphonica jaunt, and also pulled a concert at London's Royal Albert Hall.
