Get Cape. Wear Cape. Fly organises London Astoria Demolition Ball Get Cape. Wear Cape. Fly Tickets

Sam Duckworth wants to give the venue a proper send off

Get Cape. Wear Cape. Fly's Sam Duckworth is curating a night at the soon-to-be closed London Astoria venue.

Duckworth's Demolition Ball will take place on January 14 - one day before the Astoria closes for good. The iconic venue is being demolished to make way for a new rail system linking London's centre to the east and west of the city.

The line up - so far - for the Demolition Ball is:

The Automatic
My Vitriol
Get Cape. Wear Cape. Fly (band show)
Frank Turner
The King Blues
VV Brown

Duckworth is hoping to confirm other acts in the coming days, and a statement from the singer says he expects bands to "just turn up and play" at the event.

Proceeds from the gig go to the Love Music Hate Racism and Jail Guitar Doors campaigns.

Ibiza superclub Manumission is set to host the Astoria's final night on January 15. On Monday (January 05), organisers said they were hoping to get The Who and Kasabian to play the closing night.

Meanwhile, club night PUSH will host the party in the downstairs Astoria 2 hall on the same night.

if that's the "proper" sending off the legendary Astoria deserves then it deserves to be ripped the fuck down quick!hell i would be surprised if it just crumbled to dust with embarrassment!

Believe it or not, it's probably quite hard to organise an astoria gig with a weeks notice. Can't be easy. I say fair play. Anything is better than Manumission

This is a far better sending off than Manumission, The Automatic, My Vitriol, Get Cape. Wear Cape. Fly and Frank Turner are all brilliant.
