The show's four-part revival mini-series, 'Gilmore Girls: A Year In The Life', launches on Netflix on November 25.
Gilmore Girls stars Lauren Graham and Alexis Bledel have spoken about the show’s future after it returns to Netflix later this month.
The Netflix revival series, Gilmore Girls: A Year In The Life, features four 90-minute episodes and picks up eight years on from the original series. The show’s creator, Amy Sherman-Palladino, returns as executive producer after leaving the original series before its seventh and final season.
“The idea was for Amy to get the chance to conclude the story the way she always wanted to,” Bledel told Digital Spy.
“I certainly feel we answer a lot of questions in this [series] and we are delivering things to fans that maybe they wanted and didn’t get from the season seven finale. So it feels conclusive but I suppose anything is possible, and I don’t have any expectations either way.”
Discussing whether another revival series could follow, Graham said: “It’s hard to say. I’ll be curious when all the episodes are out because this feels like such a grassroots thing – the people brought Gilmore Girls back so I think it’s up to the people if they think the ending feels satisfying enough.”
“If it does I wouldn’t want to touch it,” she added. “To me it ends in a really satisfying way that could also continue… so I guess we’ll see.”
Gilmore girls makes its much-anticipated return with four memorable chapters from the lives of Lorelai, Emily, Rory and countless more Stars Hollow stalwarts.
The Netflix mini-series will begin with the death of Richard Gilmore, Lorelai’s father and husband of matriarch Emily Gilmore, played by Kelly Bishop. Actor Edward Herrmann, who played the role of Richard, died in 2014.
“I’m sort of in a midlife crisis and Emily is kinda of like ‘how can I move on from this loss?’” Graham told Entertainment Weekly in another recent interview.
Bledel’s character Rory, who was just starting out her journalism career on the campaign trail of then-Senator Barack Obama in 2007, is still working as a reporter in the revival series. However, according to Bledel, she has had something of a “rude awakening” following changes to the industry in the intervening years.
