Band member's dad says rumours of 2008 end are 'fantasy'

Girls Aloud family members have strongly denied that the bandmates are to split this year.

Rumours have been rife that the five girls will call it a day after their UK arena tour ends in May.

One tabloid newspaper even quoted an "insider" who claimed "they want to finish and try something different".

However speaking to Bradford Telegraph and Argus, the father of group member Kimberly Walsh hit out at such claims.

"It's just a fantasy. The national papers put this story out every now and again but it is just utter nonsense," said John Walsh. "To be honest, Kimberley gets sick to death of reading them."

He added: "The band might well have a break of a few weeks or something, but that wouldn't be until the end of the year."
