Girls Aloud's Nicola Roberts: 'The pop industry isn't fun anymore'

Singer says it's too 'hardnosed' nowadays

Girls Aloud singer Nicola Roberts has said that she no longer has fun being a pop star because the music industry is too "serious and hardnosed".

Roberts, who released her debut solo album 'Cinderella's Eyes' in September this year, told Live Magazine that she found it difficult to cope with increased attention from the media and constantly being in the public eye.

"The fun has gone out of the pop industry," she said. "In a way Girls Aloud were the first wave of modern celebrity. When we started out there were no camera phones clicking away. Then everything became so much more heightened."

She went on to add:

It became a different industry. It's too serious and hardnosed.

Meanwhile, The Sun reports that the singer also claimed that she and her Girls Aloud bandmates had been helping Sarah Harding, who entered rehab in October to deal with 'alcohol and depression issues'.

"We support each other in everything we do and we are all there for her," said Roberts. "Whenever any one of us needs an extra bit of TLC we are ready and we jump to the occasion. Sarah is good, she's OK."

Last month, the Girls Aloud singer moved to downplay an apparent Twitter spat with Madonna. Roberts had seemingly accused the pop icon of ripping off her track 'Beat Of My Drum' for her single 'Give Me Your Love', but she later claimed she hadn't heard Madonna's track and people had been "quick to jump the gun" in trying to stir up a feud.
