Girls Aloud will call it a day after their 10th anniversary tour and release of a greatest hits album, according to Cheryl Cole.

The former X Factor judge leaked the information in her newly released autobiography Cheryl: My Story, suggesting a tour and album, celebrating the group's anniversary, will be their last hurrah.

Cole wrote: "We'll be working on a tour and greatest hits album. Then I think that's it for Girls Aloud. We've achieved more than any of us ever dared to dream of."

Cheryl and co re-launched their official website, Girlsaloud.com, last week, kicking off a 10-day countdown to a special announcement. It is thought that the band will be releasing a brand new single. Earlier this year they were working on new material with production and songwriting team Xenomania.

The band have also reportedly been lined up to play this year's Royal Variety Performance at the Royal Albert Hall on November 19.

The pop group released their last studio album 'Out Of Control' in 2008, but back in March singer Nadine Coyle confirmed that the band would reform for an arena tour in 2013 to celebrate their 10-year anniversary.

Girls Aloud originally formed on Popstars: The Rivals in 2002 and went on to have major chart success before going on hiatus in July 2009 to allow band members Cheryl Cole, Kimberly Walsh, Nadine Coyle, Nicola Roberts and Sarah Harding to pursue other projects.
