Christopher Owens - formerly of Girls - has announced plans for a short UK tour, set to take place in February of next year.

He will also play a stand-alone date at London's Union Chapel on May 29, 2013. Tickets for the tour go on general sale December 14.

Owens will release his debut solo album, 'Lysandre' – which he describes as "a coming of age story, a road trip story, a love story", on January 14, 2013.

Christopher Owens will play:

Manchester Deaf Institute (February 25)
Glasgow Broadcast (26)
Leeds Brudenell Social Club (27)
Bristol Thekla (28)
London Union Chapel (May 29)

Christopher Owens recently explained to NME why he chose to leave Girls earlier this year, putting the split between him and his bandmate JR White down to the constant changing of musicians in the band.

He said: "When we very first started [Girls], we were both very clear that we had a very specific goal for the band and that if it didn't work out we would end it."

He continued: "We jumped in very quickly in the beginning because people liked what we recorded together and put on the internet, so we just put together a live band. We always believed that at some point that we would find the right people and they would stay forever but unfortunately we didn't."

"Over four years we had about 21 people play with us. When Girls last played the UK our lead guitar player quit and drummer quit and I said, 'You know, I don't want to do this any more.'"
