Glastonbury film to be released

Julien Temple’s highly anticipated movie about the Glastonbury festival is to be released in April.

The eagerly-awaited documentary opens in cinemas on April 14. Filming took place at the 2002, 2003, 2004 and 2005 bashes.

The director also spent three years collecting footage from every single year of the festival, ranging from professional outtakes from the film Nicolas Roeg made about the 1971 event, to amateur home videos collected from the attendees themselves. Over 700 hours of footage was submitted.

Musicians featured on the film include The Velvet Underground, Nick Cave And The Bad Seeds, Primal Scream, Alabama 3, Billy Bragg, Cypress Hill, Scissor Sisters, Radiohead and David Bowie.

Glastonbury is screening at the Sundance film festival in the World Documentary section. Next month it will play at the Berlin Film Festival.
