Glastonbury commits to mount global warming campaign

Organisers want festival goers to sign up

Festival goers at this year’s Glastonbury Festival will be asked to help in the fight against global warming.

Organisers want 100,000 people to sign up to the climate change campaign, which urges people to take 16 steps in their everyday lives to reduce their carbon footprint.

Everybody at the festival will be given a special wristband with the I Count message: “We can stop climate chaos.”

Organiser Michael Eavis said: “We’ve put a lot of effot into focusing Glastonbury on the environment and climate change this year. We hope to see at least 100,000 new supporters sign up to the I Count campaign - and I’ll be the first to put my name down.”

The campaign is supported by the Stop Climate Chaos coalition of over 50 organisations, as well as the three main causes - Oxfam, Greenpeace and WaterAid.

The festival is set to take place at June 22-24 at Worthy Farm in Pilton, Somerset.
