Smiths legend teams up with Modest Mouse at Glastonbury
Johnny Marr urges the crowd to 'fuck the rain'
Modest Mouse teamed up with The Smiths guitarist Johnny Marr on the Other Stage today (June 22) as the rain continued to pour at Glastonbury.
Playing their first UK festival set with the new line-up, the band played a series of tracks from their latest album ‘We Were Dead Before The Ship Even Sank’ with Marr on lead guitar including ‘Spitting Venom’, ‘Parting Of The Sensory’ and ‘Education’.
The Smiths guitarist also took up vocal duties with lead singer Isacc Brock on ‘Fire It Up’ before the band received huge applause when they launched into their 2004 hit single ‘Float On’.
Referring to the damp conditions the guitarist quipped: “Has everyone got good wellies like proper cool good ones?”
There were huge cheers when the sun finally came out briefly and Marr declared: “Fuck the rain!”.
Marr has been touring with the US band after helping to write and record their recent album.
