Shirley Bassey hails Arctic Monkeys at Glastonbury

Dame Shirley Bassey praised Arctic Monkeys during her Pyramid Stage performance this afternoon (June 24).

The singer, who was backed by a huge orchestra, thanked the Sheffield four-piece for their rendition of her hit 'Diamonds Are Forever' during their festival appearance on Friday night (June 22) although she chose not to include it in her set.

Addressing the audience she said: "I have to say Arctic Monkeys, that is how it is done. I'd like to thank them for singing 'Diamonds Are Forever'."

The star, who was dressed in a pink tassled gown, got the crowd going with a host of classic hits including the likes of 'Big Spender', 'Get The Party Started', James Bond theme 'Goldfinger' and The Doors hit 'Light My Fire'.

Bassey, who was watched by Glastonbury organiser Michael Eavis onstage, also performed a medley during the finale of her performance which included 'Kiss Me, Honey, Honey, Kiss Me'.
