Michael Eavis: '2008 will not be the last Glastonbury'

Festival chief assures fans the event will last for years to come

Glastonbury boss Michael Eavis has denied rumours that this year’s festival might be the last.

His daughter and co-organiser of the festival, Emily Eavis, reportedly suggested that they were approaching this year’s festival as if it could be the final one.

Speaking to Orange World Emily Eavis said, “I kinda feel that we should ply everything into this as if it be the last.”

It’s a risky, risky business and it would be nice to think, to know that it could go on forever, [but] I don’t know if that’s possible.”

However, her father denied that this year’s event, the 38th, is going to be the last Glastonbury festival. Speaking to BBC News, he said that the expression “treat it as if it is the last” is actually a family phrase and reporters had taken it out of context.
