Shangri-la covers four acres and runs until 6am

Glastonbury Festival organisers have announced a new attraction for 2008’s event, an entertainment area running until six in the morning.

Shangri-la covers 40 acres and will encompass 12 stages and various attractions.

The area will be based around a traditional village green and will feature a selection of bands and musical acts, which have yet to be announced.

Speaking about the three fields hosting Shangri-la, Glastonbury organiser Michael Eavis said: “These are the fields that started off as Wango Riley’s [a legendary stage], back in the old travellers’ days. They’ve got history, character and a great track record.”

To register in order to buy tickets for the festival, go to Glastonburyregistration.co.uk before the closing date of March 14.

Light night entertainment area, sounds good to me. What will that be I wonder, will it consist of 100,000 people trudging through a flooded swamp in an effort to catch up with their floating tents whilst under the influence of six litres of pear cider?
