Michael Eavis speaks ahead of tickets going on sale

Glastonbury organiser Michael Eavis has spoken ahead of tickets for the 2009 festival going on sale on Sunday (October 5), claiming that the process will be the "fairest" ticket selling system available.

He told BBC Newsbeat that he believed the registration and deposit system would ensure that real fans got hold of tickets, as opposed to touts.

"After three years, I am now confident that we have developed the fairest ticketing operation available anywhere," he said.

He added: "With the new scheme, backed by the all-important registration process, everyone has an equal chance of getting a ticket. Most importantly, every ticket will be going to a genuine festival-goer direct.

"I'm convinced that the £50 deposit will help a lot of people to spread the payment for their ticket over a much longer period."

From Sunday at 9am (BST) fans can order as many tickets to the festival as they wish, as long as each ticket is matched to a registered fan.

Full weekend tickets cost £175, plus a £5 booking fee. Fans can pay £50 to reserve each ticket then pay the remaining amount next year.

Does this early sale mean that the headliners will be released early too?

No... just plain and simple no.

It does indeed semi_mental. I read an interview with Emily Eavis a few weeks ago and she said that due to early tickets they would be sorting out everything else early too, so the headliners will be announced by december at the latest apparently. She didn't say anything about the rest of the line up though. Bookies favourite is Radiohead for headlining saturday followed by Muse. I'm hoping for My Bloody Valentine in there somewhere!

Oh please let Muse be headlining...I've never been to Glaso and that would genuinely ensure I had the best time ever!!
