Blur, Bruce Springsteen, Neil Young for Glastonbury 2009?

The festival rumour mill grows

Although organisers haven't confirmed any major acts for the festival yet, rumours are circulating that Blur, Neil Young and Bruce Springsteen will headline next year's Glastonbury.

Gossip website Holy Moly is predicting that the bands will play the festival, alongside Kaiser Chiefs.

Meanwhile, festival resource website eFestivals.co.uk lists Young, Springsteen, Blur and Kaiser Chiefs as "strong rumours" to play the festival, along with Kanye West, The Specials, The Coral and Squeeze.

The first act to be officially announced for playing Glastonbury 2009 is Liverpool four-piece Major Major.

The festival takes place at Worthy Farm, Pilton on June 26, 27 and 28 next summer. See Glastonburyfestivals.co.uk for ticket details.

I can just see the arrogant Kanye West moaning that he should be headlining Glastonbury

I hope it isn't, nothing against those acts but i think it could be better.I thought it would be something like: Franz, RATM and someone like a metallica or a slipknot. Trust me i saw slipknot last night they are definately worthy of headlining festivals now.

Museician - I'm guessing you've never been to Glasto? Glasto doesn't do heavy metal... Don't get me wrong, I saw Slipknot the other night and have seen them loads of times and they put on a great show! But Glastonbury doesn't do metal! It was a surprise when they booked Queens of the Stoneage a few years ago believe me and that's about as heavy as you'll get at Glasto! There's about as much chance of Slipknot or Metallica headlining Glastonbury as there is of Katy Perry winning an Ivor Novello... as for Franz Ferdinand headlining, you'd choose them over Blur? Also, in all due respect to Franz (a band that I do like by the way), A headline act is generally picked because they can draw a crowd, Springstein or Franz? I think Springstein might just edge it all things considered...I don't tend to watch headliners but I'll be watching Blur, got my Hyde Park ticket already and will definately be at the Wolverhampton show! Got ticket number 1 the last time they played there, 1st the queue!

The only gig Slipknot are worthy of headlining is one where all the attendees are both deaf and blind.

as much as i am looking forward to Glasto, especially if Neil and Bruce are playing (two of the best live acts ever, especially if Neil is up for it), ACDC just announced stadium dates and of course they had to do it over Glasto.....

Saw Springsteen in Dublin in May for first time. What have I been doing in my life. He was absolutely incredible. I'd go to Glasto just to see him. Mind you, if the rumours are true then there'd be other stuff worth watching too. I think AC/DC will headline Download, though.

Eh, until last year, I'm pretty sure people were certain Glastonbury 'didn't do' rap music either.I know, why don't we get Noel Gallagher in, see what he has to say about it ?

If Glasto can accept: Will Young James Blunt (cockney rhyming slang at it's finest) Scissor sisters Sugababes Kaiser Chiefs Razor-s---e Panic at the disco Shirley Bassey Dizzie Rascal Lethal Bizzle Foals The Kooks And very nearly Kylie Minouge. Then i think the Glastonbury MUSIC festival can accept a band like slipknot or metallica that just consistently put thier heart and soul into thier shows unlike Oasis in 04 where Muse made the headlines on Monday morning instead.

are you serious? slipknot would NEVER headline glasto, do you really think eavis would risk letting a band whove never headlined a big festival, and a metal band headline glasto after last year?..no he wouldnt. and besides would ANY of the older generation go and watch slipknot?...no they wouldnt

hey, I'm not a fan of Slipknot, I'm just saying after last year, they're going to keep making room for more diverse acts (genre-wise, I mean).I hope Blur play, I hope Radiohead play, and I'll take anything else as long as I get those two.

I know Glasto's branching out (as it does every year, it has a huge roster but people just look at the main stages) with Jay Z last year, but Heavy Metal is a real stretch, Muse and Queens are the heaviest it gets really. They definitely wouldn't headline they, certainly not the main stage! Let's just hope its not Take-fucking-That, because don't forget, they had Robbie Williams...

to be honest blur don't deserve a headline spot just on the merit of reforming. in my opinion there are new bands around now that are making better music than the majority of things blur did! Radiohead should definitely play, and everyone seems to be forgetting Coldplay! And ... if we're talking legends, Bob Dylan and Eric Clapton are both on tour, i think them guys beat both Springsteen and Young!! Radiohead, Coldplay, Dylan/Clapton!
