Glastonbury festival 'not banning flags'

Spokesperson says flags will still be allowed on Worthy Farm

Glastonbury festival chiefs told NME.COM that flags will not be banned at the Somerset event.

Yesterday (August 25) it was revealed that Festival Republic's Melvin Benn, who helps to organise the event, had discussed the possibility with Glastonbury boss Michael Eavis following Benn's decision to ban them at the Reading And Leeds Festivals, which take place this weekend (August 28-30).

However a Glastonbury spokesperson has now told us that flags will not be banned from the Worthy Farm site next year.

See the new issue of NME, out today (August 26), for more on the flags at festivals debate.

Thank god. They are a fucking pointless irritant that serve no purpose other than to obscure the view of countless individuals. Can they now move to ban large rucksacks being worn anywhere near a stage!! If you don't want it pinched don't fucking take it!!!

The flags are awesome and look excellent. I think banning them would have an adverse effect, so good for flags next year. Chillout rolfkim, it's only a bit of material.
