Details of Glastonbury's new late-night area have been released.

The new after-hours field is being curated by east London set design duo Block9 and will feature massive soundsystems, underground nightclubs, a giant art installation called Genosys and alternative performance alongside a new stage. The area will explore the birth of electronic dance music and its legacy and will feature Chicago house DJs Gene Hunt and Tyree Cooper as well as sets from Greg Wilson, Bicep and Julio Bashmore.

According to a press release from Block 9, the area will also feature a giant tree. "Hovering in the shadows of an ancient industrial power facility, a towering concrete and glass structure lies dormant and overgrown," it reads. "This is Genosys. Short for Generated Oxygen System, this epic, brutalist 'tree' was built to save the once poisoned planet. It nurtured and preserved plant life within its huge tanks and, as it drank in the excess atmospheric carbon, it poured out fresh oxygen. Lost and forgotten, Genosys has lain silent until now…"

Stephen Gallagher, co-founder of Block9 added: "Built from 55 tonnes of scaffolding, set and lighting, Genosys is Block9’s most ambitious project to date."
