Fire alarm chaos at Glasvegas gig

Rising stars Glasvegas played a hotly-anticipated London gig last night – despite their set nearly being scuppered by a fire alarm scare.

Near the end of their opening song, ‘Daddy’s Gone’, at their gig at London’s Notting Hill Arts Club last night (November 7), the venue’s fire alarm was set off, a result of the smoke effects the band were using on stage.

A security guard and a venue staff member rushed onto the stage as the song ended and attempted to get the band to stop playing, but they refused and continued into second song, ’I’m Gonna Get Stabbed’.

Halfway through the song, the fire alarm bell ended, prompting cheers from the crowd.

The band then continued their six-song set, which included forthcoming single b-side ‘Flowers And Football Tops’ and ‘Go Square Go’.

The set was rapturously received by the crowd – including many major record label scouts.

“The alarm bell went off, but it was only down to the smoke effects,” guitarist Rab Allan explained to NME.COM. “You’ve got to carry on, haven’t you, you can’t just stop!”

The band’s manager revealed that she had been inundated with label interest in the band, who play London’s 229 venue tonight (November 8), and they are expected to sign a record deal within the next few weeks.
