Glasvegas wow The Great Escape
Band headline the Komedia venue in Brighton
Taking the stage at 10:15pm (BST), the band played a slew of new songs destined for their forthcoming debut album, ending with a a crowd singalong of 'Daddy's Gone'.
The venue was busy with fans eager to check out the fast-rising Scottish band, including a loud section of hardcore fans who sang along to almost every word of the set.
'Go Square Go' in particular, with its repeated line, "Here we fucking go", drew a loud singalong from the fans.
The song was followed by 'Ice Cream Van', which saw the band play as a duo, guitarist Rab Allan playing keyboard while frontman James Allan sang.
The song is tender, moody and slow, showcasing a new level to the band previous singles had not fully revealed. The crowd responded well to the song, with James Allan showing his appreciation for the applause by tapping his heart with his fist.
Before playing set closer 'Daddy's Gone' James Allan told the crowd he planned to head to the bar to share a drink with them – a plan scuppered by the bar shutting shop as soon as the set ended.
Glasvegas played:
'Flowers And Football Tops'
'Lonesome Swan'
'It's My Own Cheating Heart That Makes Me Cry'
'Geraldine'
'Polmont On My Mind'
'Go Square Go'
'Ice Cream Van'
'Daddy’s Gone'
