Glasvegas wrapped up their first headlining tour of the US over the weekend, with a show at Mercury Lounge in New York City.

The tour kicked off a day late after singer James Allan experienced a delay with his work visa, and the short stint included a slot opening for Echo And The Bunnymen at Radio City Music Hall last Wednesday (October 1).

Speaking to NME.COM before the show, Allan said the response in America has been incredibly positive, with sold out shows and fans enthusiastically singing along, something that’s not so common among US crowds.

“It’s been amazing” Allan said “They know every word to ‘Daddy’s Gone’”.

Opening with ‘Flowers And Football Tops’ the band made their way through an eight-song set for the stuffed audience, much of which was comprised of Scottish ex-pats and industry types.

“It was our first [headlining] gig in New York and for me it was wonderful… how was it for you?” quipped Allan after the show.

The band will remain in New York working on new material for a week before flying directly to Transylvania to commence work on their upcoming Christmas record.
