Glasvegas: 'We were terrible at the 2008 festivals'

'We didn't know what to expect,' Rab Allan admits

Glasvegas guitarist Rab Allan has said that he thought the band were "terrible" at last year's festivals.

The band played last summer at events including Glastonbury, T In The Park and the Reading And Leeds Festivals - with Allan saying they were "unprepared".

"Last year we were really unprepared and terrible," he told blog Music Minded. "That was purely lack of experience and we didn't know what to expect."

The guitarist added that he expected the four-piece to up their game this year, where they are confirmed revisit the Reading And Leeds Festivals, and play further shows including Coachella in the USA this weekend (April 17-19).

"This time around we're probably more experienced as a band and we know what we're going into," he said. "To be honest [festivals can be like a] cattle market. Every band gets thrown onstage then dragged back off.

"It's so quick. I think if you go into it looking at it like that, you won't be too disappointed. The most important thing is that everyone at the front enjoys it."

and you will continue to be terrible this year, and the next year, and every day until you die, and even then you will die in a dreadfully boring way, its your style

not true, saw them at leeds and they were awesome.

Grimbo, the band admitted themselves that they were terrible, so they couldn't have been awesome. Probably one of the worst bands I've ever seen. Went to the NME tour and it has to be the only show where the headliner was the worst band on the bill.

Ha ha ha, exactly, they were terrible before they even played, seen them a few times at various places in Glasgow before they got big and still can't understand how they got so big, so fucking boring it's unreal.

If they didn't have the worst, ugliest and by far the fattest drummer in the world they would be pretty good.

Yes hitchy249, spot on. Confirmed by the fact that Simon Price bigs them up. They sound like OMD, only worse, much worse

well, you've all beaten me to it in the slagging Glasvegas steaks. they are mediocre sh*te & as a Glaswegian I cringe everytime I hear the moronic ned (chav) vocals & lyrics. alltogether now - 'she's ma so-shee-all wurk-ur...'

Firstly you are all entitled to your opinion. Secondly you are all so fucking wrong its unreal. And Chris 101090 i think Grimbo was saying 'not true' to the pile of shit spouted by Hitchy249, not the fact they werent on form at last years festivals. Glasvegas write amazing lyrics and not even the doubters amongst you can say that the music isnt epic.

gazmassie, i think the fact that instead of defending glasvega, the drabbest, dullest bunch of glasses wearing junped up little shits the world has ever seen, you start your comment by slaging the vast majority of other users off (in the democratic process majority rules, admittedly something else i'd like to talk to you about at a later date).it makes your position completely indefensable. if you like glasvegas so much then you can hold their hands and lead them far far away from here, where they won't bother us again.

I'm pretty sure Glasvegas are in fact just a prank being played by the music industry to see how many people they can convince incredibly boring, uninspiring music is decent via sunglasses, leather and a regional accent.

well, you're all very charming and witty of opinion, but I think they're fucking brilliant.
