Gnarls Barkley delete chart-topper

Gnarls Barkley are to delete their chat-topper ‘Crazy’ tomorrow (May 29), ending its run of nine consecutive weeks at the top of the charts.

The band now want to focus on the follow-up single, ‘Smiley Faces’, which is scheduled for a release on July 17.

Speaking in the character pf Gnarls Barkley, the band explained in a statement: "I consider myself a realist. I suppose that goes for most of us. But I have found a way to at once hold them, fold them, walk away and run. This was not a painless decision. But pain is nothing but a bi-product of beauty. Potentially toxic, to be sure, but that's all it is."

‘Crazy’ made music history when the track became the first to top the UK singles chart on download sales alone, and is the longest running Number One single since Wet Wet Wet’s ‘Love Is All Around’ in 1994.

Gnarls Barkley’s UK dates include their debut headline show at London’s Hammersmith Apollo on July 5 as well as festival gigs at The 02 Wireless bash in London and Leeds on June 23 and June 24 before returning to play Creamfields on August 26.
