Chart set to include video downloads
Radical rethink of UK singles countdown coming
Music video downloads look set to be included in the UK singles chart by the end of the year.
The Official UK Charts Company are about to hold talks with music labels about the possibility.
Apple say iTunes has sold 35 million videos since they were introduced to buy in October 2005.
Director of the Official UK Charts Company, Omar Maskatiya, told Music Week: “It’s up to us to start talking to the retailers and getting an idea of how many are selling from the labels."
The singles chart already takes music downloads into account - in April ’Crazy’ by Gnarls Barkley was the first UK Number One to reach the top on download sales alone.
