Goldfrapp to release new album ‘Tales Of Us’ in September

Duo's sixth studio album is apparently their most 'narrative, cinematic and intimate recording so far'

Goldfrapp have announced that they will release their sixth studio album this autumn.

Titled ‘Tales Of Us’, the album will be available via Mute from September 9. It’s the duo’s follow-up to 2010’s ‘Head First’, which became their third straight UK Top Ten album.

‘Tales Of Us’ was apparently “two years in the crafting” and is billed as Goldfrapp’s “most narrative, cinematic and intimate recording so far”. An atmospheric trailer for the album can be viewed now on the band’s official website.

The majority of the album’s track titles are either a male or female first name, reflecting the fact that ‘Tales Of Us’ will feature a series of “evocative character sketches”. Meanwhile, filmmaker Lisa Gunning is now working on a film to accompany the album, which will be shown in cinemas later this year.

Goldfrapp will perform songs from ‘Tales Of Us’ for the first time next month (July), when they play a pair of shows at the Manchester International Festival accompanied by the Royal Northern College of Music string orchestra. Following these Manchester shows, which take place on July 17 and 18, the band will perform at London’s Somerset House on July 20 before going on to headline the Lovebox Main Stage on Sunday, July 21.

The band will also embark on a short European headline tour this October and November, including one UK date at London’s Hammersmith Apollo on November 1.

The ‘Tales Of Us’ tracklisting is:

‘Jo’
‘Annabel’
‘Drew’
‘Ulla’
‘Alvar’
‘Thea’
‘Simone’
‘Stranger’
‘Laurel’
‘Clay’
