ASH, GORILLAZ, Dido, David Gray and TRAVIS are amongst the nominees for this year's IVOR NOVELLO AWARDS.

This year's awards are the 47th, and take place at the Grosvenor House Hotel in London on May 23. Organisers claim the event to be the most respected awards that reflect the talent of British songwriters.

As previously announced on NME.COM, Ash have been nominated for 'Best Contemporary Song'. Other nominees are Gorillaz' 'Clint Eastwood' and [/a]'s 'Thank You'.

In the 'Best Song Musically And Lyrically' category, [a] 's 'Sail Away', Travis' 'Side' and 'Walk On' by U2 battle it out for the honours, while the 'Ivors Dance Award' gives the nod to DJ Pied Piper's 'Do You Really Like It', [a][/a]'s 'Can't Get You Out Of My Head' and Basement Jaxx' 'Where's Your Head At'.

Other awards at the ceremony include 'International Hit Of The Year', 'Best Selling UK Single', 'International Achievement' and 'Songwriter Of The Year'.
