Festival that launched Damon Albarn's 'Monkey' opera to return
Manchester International Festival dates announced'
Details of the second Manchester International Festival have been confirmed today (January 15).
The inaugural event took place in June last year, staging a series of art event's and performances including the premiere of Damon Albarn and Jamie Hewlett's opera 'Monkey: Journey To The West'.
The biannual festival will now return to the city in 2009, taking place between July 2-19. Details of what will feature will be announced later this year.'
