Damon Albarn has said he was "fucking gutted" that Boyzone beat Gorillaz to Number One in the UK albums chart earlier this year.

Gorillaz' 'Plastic Beach' went to Number Two in the chart in March, losing out to Boyzone's album 'Brother' - it was released the week of Mother's Day in the UK - while it also made Number Two in the US Billboard 200 Chart.

Speaking about the chart positions, Albarn told MTV News: "I was a bit fucking gutted that 'Plastic Beach' only got to two in America. And I was obviously a bit gutted that it only got to two in England. Against fucking Boyzone!"

He added: "But, at the end of the day, it's OK. I've had a lot of successful Number Twos over the years."
