Damon Albarn has revealed the title of the new Gorillaz album, set to be released as a free download on Christmas Day.
Albarn told Australian radio station Triple J that the album, recorded on an iPad, will be called 'The Fall' because of the time it was recorded.
"I wrote it in October," he explained. "I didn't want to call it October because U2 had already used that. Although I like the word October, I like the month, I like the feeling."
The singer confirmed that Gorillaz are to take time out after wrapping up their world tour in New Zealand on December 21. "I'm putting [Gorillaz] back in a box for a while," he said. "Just putting it back on the shelf."
Albarn added that he's currently working "on a piece for the Manchester International Festival about Elizabethan occult philosophy".
Gorillaz' new album will be available from Gorillaz.com to members of the band's fanclub.
