SNAKE IT UP BABY

THE SERPENTS make their live debut at this year's National Eisteddfod - the week long Welsh language festival near Llanbedrgoch, Anglesey, on August 1.

The Serpents - a supergroup featuring members of Super Furry Animals, Gorky's Zygotic Mynci, Echo & The Bunnymen and Teardrop Explodes among others - released their album 'You Have Just Been Poisoned' earlier this year. The line-up for the gig isn't confirmed, though nme.com will bring you more details as we get them.

The gig - a joint venture between Jubilee 2000 and Cymdeithas yr laith Gymraeg - the Welsh Language Society - also features the debut of Infinity Chimps, the band formed by ex-Gorky's Zygotic Mynci man John Lawrence as well as Coridor, Cint and Stealth Hwfers.

There are other gigs taking place during the festival and people buying tickets will receive a limited edition seven track CD of bands on the Ankst label.

For tickets, costing #3 call 01970 624501.
