The Gossip’s Beth Ditto, The Enemy, Paul Weller and Bloc Party's producer have joined together to release a charity single.

The track, which is being recorded by Kate Nash’s producer Paul Epworth, is in aid of homeless charity Crisis.

The song is being recorded in the style of the party game ’Consequences’. In the same way that the game involved writing a story without seeing the sentence before, each part of the song - drums, bass, guitars, vocals and more - are being recorded one day at a time.

Epworth told NME.COM: “Basically, the drummers are recording on Monday then the bassists come in on Tuesday and so on. Then finally Beth records her vocals on top at the end.”

The track will also feature New Young Pony Club, Graham Coxon, Supergrass and The Smiths' Andy Rourke.

Epworth has worked with Supergrass’s Danny Goffey and Gaz Coombes to ensure the blind sessions don’t hit a brick wall.

Goffey said: “It’s quite a musical challenge, you know - can it be done? No real lyrics have been written yet either. It’s a bit all over the shop to be honest!”

You can see the song’s daily progress on NME.COM/blog all week, while the track is set to be released next year.

The supergroup will also be performing live on March 2 at London's Roundhouse - a handful of tickets have been offered up for early purchase. For details, go to Crisisconsequences.com.
