Gossip singer Beth Ditto has made a surprise appearance at tonight's Barclaycard Mercury Prize award ceremony in London.

The singer, with her band in tow, hit the red carpet at the Grosvenor House Hotel, reluctantly giving her verdict on who she wanted to win to NME.COM.

"I'm not saying!" she laughed. "I already said someone (before) and then I felt guilty and then I forgot someone else. But right now, this second, it's a tie between Bat For Lashes and La Roux. But Florence And The Machine too!"
