GRANDADDY RETURN AT THE DOUBLE!

And the follow-up to 'The Sophtware Slump' is likely to be a double...

Grandaddy's new album is likely to be titled 'SUMDAY' and will be released in June.

Bassist Jim Fairchild revealed the details in a pasting on the band's official website www.grandaddylandscape.com. He also confirmed that the album will be a double, though not in the conventional sense.

He said: "Two more songs and the album will be done. It will be mixed and mastered, one hundred per cent final, in February. Looks a lot like a June release for the record, which will most likely be titled 'Sumday'. A short, concise title for an album that contains 13 songs that are largely shorter and more concise than what you might be used to from us.

"As some of you have heard, it will probably be two discs, but not really in a classic double album sense. It's more like one disc's got the tunes people might like to hear during the party, and the other's got the ones you might want to listen to once everyone's gone, dozing off. "

The band rare recording the follow-up to 2000's 'The Sophtware Slump' at their own Central Heat And Air studio in their native Modesto. As previously reported on NME.COM, song titles include 'El Caminos In The West', 'I'm On Standby', 'Now It's On' and 'Off On Your Merry Way'.

Toronto filmmaker Matt Burke is designing the visuals - essentially mini-movies to complement the tracks - for when the band tour the new album.

Fairchild also revealed the band have so much material left over that a series of EPs are likely to surface over the next couple of years.

will launch their own Sweat of the Alps label, an Internet-only imprint that will issue two records a year.
