The Great Escape announces first bands for 2009 festival

Brighton bash is set to welcome the likes of Metronomy and Esser

Brighton festival The Great Escape has announced the first wave of acts set to play this year's bash.

The festival, which once again takes place across a number of venues in and around Brighton between May 14-16, will see the likes of Future Of The Left, Micachu And The Shapes, The Soft Pack and VV Brown all take part.

"We're delighted to be presenting some of the best new music from all over the world at this year's Great Escape," said the event's
director Jon Mcildowie. "Each year we've been fortunate to have early shows with artists such as The Ting Tings, Klaxons and Gossip. We expect this year to be even better."
