Green Day to lead hurricane relief concert

GREEN DAY are set to play a hurricane relief concert later this month.


Following the recent devastation of New Orleans and the American Gulf Coast after they were lashed by the full force of Hurricane Katrina, the band will join Alicia Keys in an benefit concert for the victims on September 10.


Another benefit concert for hurricane victims will also take place this Friday (September 2) with jazz man Harry Connick Jr, country singer Tim McGraw and actor Leonardo DiCaprio set to feature, BBC News reports.


Connick Jr and McGraw are both from Louisiana, one of the worst hit areas.


It is believed that thousands died in the storms, and currently much of New Orleans, itself a pivotal city in jazz history, is submerged.
